How can I place an order?

You can place an order in four ways.

How can I find out the status of my order?

You will receive an order confirmation email that will allow you to create an account so that you can track and view all order details.

How long does it take for me to receive my order if I reside within the US?

We ship from Canoga Park, CA. Depending on the shipping method you choose, it can be anywhere from 1 to 5 business days. You will see shipping estimates directly on the product page and during checkout.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we offer international shipping and ship all over the world.*

How can I track my order?

You can follow the transit of your order after it has shipped from our warehouse. As soon as it ships, you will receive an email with the tracking number letting you know that your order has shipped and how you can keep track of it.

How can I check the status of my order?

Your account has a link that you can click on anytime to view the status of your order. You can also contact us directly online via chat, email at help@musicboxattic.com, or phone at (866) 622-8842.

Can I make changes to my order?

Yes, but please contact us as soon as possible via chat, email at help@musicboxattic.com, or phone at (866) 622-8842. We will be happy to work with you to apply the desired changes provided that your order has not yet shipped. Once it has, we will not be able to make additional changes.

There is a problem with my order; what should I do?

Please call us during business hours (9 - 5 PST/ M - F) at (866) 622-8842, chat with us, or email us at help@musicboxattic.com, and we will get back to you within 24 hours.

What if I need to cancel or return my order?

To cancel your order, please contact us immediately via chat, email at help@musicboxattic.com, or phone at (866) 622-8842. If your order has shipped, you can send it back for a no-hassle refund depending on the type of order. Click here for further details on our return policy.

What forms of payment are accepted?

We accept most forms of payment through our website. We accept all major credit cards as well as PayPal, Apple Pay (must be on an iOS device using the Safari browser) and Google Pay. View our shipping and returns policy for further details on other forms of accepted payments.

Do you take checks or money orders?

Yes — you can find more information about payment with our shipping and returns policy.

Do you offer discounts on large quantity orders?

Yes, we do offer discounted prices on multiple/bulk item orders. Please contact us directly for exact pricing.

Do you offer wholesale pricing?

Yes, we do. Please contact us for wholesale pricing.

Do you do consignments?

Not at this time. However, we are looking at this venue for future consideration. Check back with us for any updates.

Products

What kind of music boxes do you carry?

We carry a huge inventory of music boxes of different shapes and sizes, jewelry boxes, snow globes, and more. You’re sure to find a style fit for every occasion imaginable. We have thousands of styles at any given moment available to choose from.

We also directly specialize in Handmade Sorrento music boxes from Italy, which are available in a variety of inlays.

What’s the difference between a music box and a jewelry box?

There's usually not a big distinction between the two. Our rule is that if the "music box" provides any space (aside from the space for the musical movement) it can also be referred to as a "music jewelry box". Although, the main difference between a standard jewelry box and a music jewelry box is one has music and the other does not.

How do I know what song goes in what box?

The majority of our items require that you select a song from a list of available tunes located on the actual product page. Some items have pre-installed tunes, and those will be the only songs for that particular item.

Do you make custom boxes?

Yes, we are able to accommodate custom inlaid Sorrento boxes as well as figurine-style items, globes, and other similar items that we sell on our website. We would need the design of the item as well as any drawings, details, and due dates first. For all other details, please contact us to discuss your project further.

Why are some boxes so expensive?

We have music boxes that range from $30 - $10,000. After a few hundred dollars, the price tends to increase as you incorporate a greater number of musical note movements. The bigger the mechanical movement inside the box, the more expensive the final product.

Why don’t all boxes have the same music available?

The majority of our music boxes are assembled in our facility in Canoga Park, CA. For that reason, differently sized movements can be installed, and every movement size (e.g. 18, 23 note, 30 note, etc.) has its own respective list of available songs.

Options & Extras

Do you guys do gift wrapping?

Yes, we do. It is an optional service we provide for your convenience located on any product page after the music selection.

Do you do any type of engraving?

Yes, we do offer engraving services. You can submit text in other languages, or even a photograph.

Do you engrave on the box directly?

Yes, we do! We do direct-to-wood and on-the-box engraving.

Can I see examples of the types of engravings?

You can see what an engraving looks like on one of our music boxes by viewing our sample page.

Music Movement

What types of songs do you have available?

We have melodies from various genres of traditional tunes from Classical to children's Lullabies, Inspirational Gospel to pop.

Can I sort by the type of music?

Not at the current time. We are working on implementing advanced sorting features in the future.

What is a mechanical movement?

Traditional music box movements are the magic behind the music box. There are physical components that create the sound, not digital.

What do you mean by notes?

Notes are for the musical pitches. To learn how this works in your music box, we have a guide for how a traditional music box works.

What is the difference between 18 and 30 note movements?

We have a visual and auditory guide to explain the differences between various movements.

Can any music box have any size note inside?

As long as the music box has enough space for the musical movement, we should be able to accommodate your request. On the website you will find many boxes with just one option for the movement size; that is because it doesn't have a large enough compartment to fit a bigger-sized movement.

What musical movement manufacturers/brands do you have available?

We carry the following brands: Reuge / Romance, Sankyo / Orpheus, and Yunsheng / Rhymes.

If I have my own box, can I send it to you to put the music in?

Yes, you can. Before you do, please contact us by email at help@musicboxattic.com or by phone at (866) 622-8842. This is to ensure that your box is evaluated prior to sending it to us.

Custom Songs & Boxes

Can I get any song not on your list?

Yes, we can incorporate any sound, song, recording, or file you provide, or even a simple link from YouTube. We do this through our unique custom digital module. The music box will play the original version of the song, an instrumental, a unique version you might have, or we can even convert the song to play just like a mechanical music box movement.

What type of music can the digital module play?

The digital module can pretty much play anything that can be recorded, whether it’s from your child's recital, a personal message you recorded for someone, or just a special song you heard before. Regarding ideal file types, any file format should work, as it will always be converted to an mp3 format.

Do you make custom mechanical movements?

We do offer the ability to have a custom mechanical movement created for you. We have resources so you can learn how this process works.

What does a conversion or converted tune mean?

Within the digital module option, you can choose to have your recorded file “converted” to sound like a music box. This is an optional, paid extra service.

Should I choose the extra $75 option if my song is already in music box format?

No. Submitting a previously converted melody will save you money and speed up the delivery time frame.

How do I send the sound file to you?

You can submit the sound file in a few ways.

  • If ordering online, you can upload it directly on the product page.
  • You can email us at help@musicboxattic.com (please reference the order number if you have one). For this option, you can attach the file directly or provide a link to the source file.
  • If placing the order by phone, simply provide the details verbally during the order process.

Do you have a catalog you can mail out?

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to provide a printed catalog. Our products and inventory count are constantly changing, so the only way to see what we have available in real-time is by looking at our website.

We have not ruled out creating a catalog, so feel free to check again in the future.

Do you offer any coupon codes?

Do you repair music boxes?

Not at this time — please contact The Music Box Repair Center, talk to Don and tell him the Music Box Attic staff sent you. He will help you.

Do you offer any guarantees or warranties? Is there a difference between them?

Do you offer music box restoration?

Unfortunately we do not offer any restoration services at this time.

No, we currently don’t offer appraisals on music boxes. If we choose to start offering this service in the future, we’ll let our customers know.

How do I care for my music box?

Music boxes are meant to last for decades, especially when you take proper care of them. Follow these care instructions to ensure that you can pass your box down for generations:

  • Place your music box in a cool, dry place.
  • Never expose your box to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.
  • Play your box occasionally to help maintain the movement module.
  • Never touch the movement (internal music mechanism). Keep the movement free from fingerprints.
  • Keep the lid closed unless it’s playing to prevent dust and other contaminants from entering the movement area.
  • If your box is a winding box, you’ll have to be careful how you wind it up in order to avoid damaging the movement.

How do I wind my music box?

To wind the movement for your box, start winding, but stop as soon as you detect even the slightest resistance. Don’t force your box to wind more than it should.
